W8UM Members are available to provide technical support in all aspects of radio communications. This
includes radio communications during natural disasters, FCC Rules interpretation, antenna modeling, equipment repairs & testing, propagation experiments, aviary tracking, weather reporting, radio communication & contesting, digital communications, satellite tracking & communications and high-altitude balloon tracking and retrieval. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While W8UM is considered a \u201cstudent club\u201d, because of the varied interests utilizing radio waves across campus, W8UM is often consulted or asked to assist with on-going and future radio-related projects throughout campus. Many student members (undergraduates, graduate and doctorate) are enrolled in the College of Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace), students from the School of Music, School of Art & Design, LSA, Mathematics and Natural History also enjoy the excitement of amateur radio and have found ways to incorporate amateur radio into their education and scientific projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, W8UM has a diverse group of faculty and alumni who remain active in supporting W8UM activities. These members, like the students, have varied backgrounds that range from aviation & engineering to medicine & zoology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
