ARRL Formation

The events of March 1913 would eventually lead to the formation of the American Radio Relay League (A.R.R.L.). During the widespread flooding, throughout the State of Ohio, the University of Michigan telegraph operator received frantic messages for help. The radio operaor at the university was Benjamin N. Burglund while the person calling for assistance was Dudley Nichols. Nichols would later enroll at the University of Michigan, become a club officer before graduating workins as a screen writer in Hollywood. A brief recall of events, written by Burglund (1914, Modern Electrics), is included.
Included within the ARRL 100th Year Annivesary Timeline presentations are references to both the Ohio State University and the University of Michigan radio operators.
