Our Fox Hunt event generally follows the antenna building class. The “Fox” (a 2M FM Transmitter) is hidden in an unknown location on North Campus. The goal is for participants to use their newly built antennas, connected to a hand-held 2M transceiver, to locate the Fox. This is always a fun activity that demonstrates radio direction finding techniques to locate one or more radio transmitters hidden within the search area.
W8UM has 3 Foxes that operate on the below frequencies. These are used during club events and demonstrations and are available for your use. Please contact: https://w8um.info@umich.edu
- 146.165 mHz FM
- 147.545 mHz FM
- 433.500 mHz SSB (modified National Weather Service Sonde)
